I started looking into solar power stations after a 3 day winter power outage in early 2023 left me scrambling to heat my house and keep my water pipes from freezing. Although I had a small, gas-powered generator, it would not start, so was useless to me. I made it thru the outage using a 40v Ryobi power station with several 6 ah batteries because I was fortunate enough to have a neighbor that still had power. So I would run over there every 6-8 hours to charge the 40v batteries. But, I could not count on that happening again, so I needed to do things differently.
Since then, I have slowly accumulated several EF power stations to use during power outages (D3+, D2M, DP and R3+). I also decided to get solar panels and use those for charging stations spring thru fall in order to take select items off-grid.
I run many things completely off of the various stations’ stored solar power spring thru fall: computer/modem/wifi, washing machine, coffee maker, microwave, portable dishwasher, crock pot, George Foreman grill, window fans and small devices. Not only does that save me money, but constantly practicing the use of my equipment means that during a power outage I would not be scrambling trying to figure out how to use everything.
Since it is the biggest energy hog that I have, it would be amazing to take my electric clothes drier off grid during the sunny season by getting a Delta Pro Ultra. And of course, having another station to store power for use during an emergency is never a bad thing.
