What Started as Backup Power Became Energy Independence
My journey with EcoFlow started with a single EcoFlow Delta Pro and the original Smart Home Panel. At first, my goal was simple: reliable backup power during outages.
What I didn’t expect was how much that one step would change the way I think about energy.
Over time, the system grew into an EcoFlow Delta Pro Ultra with Smart Home Panel 2, a south-facing solar pergola, and eventually even a bifacial solar fence built from leftover panels. What started as emergency preparedness slowly became a project focused on lowering energy costs, improving resilience, and becoming more energy independent.
One of the biggest surprises has been the solar fence. I originally built it as an experiment using extra panels, but even through winter it has produced better results than I expected.
The Delta Pros and Ultras have been incredibly reliable throughout the process, whether for whole-home backup, solar storage, or portable power when needed. It’s been rewarding seeing the system evolve piece by piece over time instead of trying to build everything all at once.
Looking back, I never expected a backup power purchase to turn into a full energy journey, but it’s been one of the most rewarding projects I’ve taken on.
Curious if anyone else started with backup power and ended up building something much bigger?
