Solar Tip: Why a single leaf can destroy your entire solar input

When setting up portable solar panels outside after a storm, you might notice your wattage drop from 180W down to 30W just because a single thin branch or leaf is casting a small shadow over the corner of the panel.

People often think the EcoFlow MPPT is malfunctioning, but it's actually the physics of the solar panel itself. The internal cells of most portable panels are wired in a series string. Think of it like a hose: if you pinch just one tiny section of the hose (the shadow), it restricts the water flow for the entire line.

The MPPT controller can only pull as much current as the weakest, most shaded cell allows. To keep your charging speeds high, make sure your panels have a 100% unobstructed view of the sun, even a tiny shadow matters.
