If you leave your AC inverter turned on overnight with absolutely nothing plugged into the wall outlets, you might wake up to find your battery has dropped by 10% or more, even though the EcoFlow app proudly displayed "0W" of output all night.This is not a defective battery. This is the inverter's baseline standby consumption. The hardware requires a constant, steady pull of energy just to keep the internal transformer energized and actively converting DC to 120V AC, ready for a plug. If you want to conserve your absolute maximum battery capacity during a long blackout, always make sure you physically turn the AC button OFF when you aren't actively running a device.

Technical Insight: Do the USB ports bypass the battery in EPS mode?

We all know the brilliant engineering behind these units: when plugged into the wall, the AC outlets physically bypass the internal battery to save your lifecycles (EPS mode). But what happens to the front USB-A and USB-C ports? Because USB ports strictly require DC voltage, they cannot pass the raw AC grid power straight from the wall to your phone. Instead, the unit takes the incoming AC grid power, runs it through the internal converter to make it DC, and routes it straight to the front USB board. The internal LiFePO4 battery cells still get to sit happily idle at your maximum charge limit. You can leave your USB-powered smart home hubs or cables plugged in 24/7 without worrying about micro-cycling the main battery.

Xt60i to USB-C-PD adapter or DC5521 to USB-C PD

Now that I have the Ecoflow 45 watt panel, I am thinking about how best to utilize it.Now that I have read that the Ecoflow small 45 watt and 60 watt portable panels are limited to 15 watts on the USB-C output, I had a thought. Is it possible to adapt the DC 5521 to USB-C PD? This way one would get more wattage out of a panel. I assume this adapter will have to be regulated in some way.Or perhaps the XT60i can be adapted to USB-C PD?Has anyone done something like this or is it not possible?

Hardware Tip: Charging your station via a gas generator during extended outages

When a major storm hits and the grid is down for several days, solar power isn't always enough if the sky stays cloudy. A lot of people fire up a traditional gas generator to quickly recharge their units. However, because the station wants to pull its maximum AC wattage instantly, that sudden massive load can actually stall the engine or trip the breaker on a smaller portable gas generator! The best trick is to open the EcoFlow app, drop the "AC Charging Speed" to its minimum setting (like 100W), plug the station into the running generator, and then slowly slide the wattage back up. This gives the generator's engine time to ramp up its RPMs smoothly, letting you find the exact sweet spot it can handle without surging.

App Strategy: Using the "Discharge Limit" to guarantee overnight Wi-Fi

During a multi-day blackout, it’s very easy to accidentally drain your station during the afternoon if family members plug in fans or TVs. To prevent this, I use a specific "energy rationing" trick in the EcoFlow app. I go into the settings and raise my "Discharge Level" limit from 0% up to 20% or 30%. When the station hits this floor, the BMS will automatically cut the power to the heavy AC inverter loads. This forces everyone to stop using the big appliances, but it beautifully reserves that final 30% of battery capacity. I can then use that remaining perfectly preserved energy to run my 12V DC Wi-Fi router and a low-draw LED light straight through the rest of the night.

All I can say is wow! I've been waiting and watching for the ecocredit products to update in the app, but you guys are aggressive! Last night, I checked for an update around 10 pm east coast time. Checked again around 11 pm, and it updated with solar panels, and at that same time, EV-ERY-THING WAS GONE! Now I'm 😔 😟 😢 😭 🤣 Whyyyyyyyyy?! I really wanted to get a portable solar panel, but..... Sorry for the rant 😅

Yesterday I did a test with my Delta Max 3 Plus and a Delta Max 2 Extra battery, using the smart generator adapter successfully.Today I decided I was going to remove the Smart generator Adapter to look at the new pin configuration, and I was not able to remove the adapter.I did press the tab but it still did not release. Rather than break something, has anyone experienced this before I use too much "pull" and break something?Any tricks to remove this or is it just tight because its new?

Solar Tip: Why a single leaf can destroy your entire solar input

When setting up portable solar panels outside after a storm, you might notice your wattage drop from 180W down to 30W just because a single thin branch or leaf is casting a small shadow over the corner of the panel. People often think the EcoFlow MPPT is malfunctioning, but it's actually the physics of the solar panel itself. The internal cells of most portable panels are wired in a series string. Think of it like a hose: if you pinch just one tiny section of the hose (the shadow), it restricts the water flow for the entire line. The MPPT controller can only pull as much current as the weakest, most shaded cell allows. To keep your charging speeds high, make sure your panels have a 100% unobstructed view of the sun, even a tiny shadow matters.

Hardware Deep Dive: The secret third pin inside the EcoFlow solar cable

If you are buying third-party cables to extend your solar setup for your unit, you need to know about a brilliant piece of hardware engineering EcoFlow uses: the XT60i connector. If you look closely at the orange XT60 port on the back of the station, and the official cable, you will see a tiny metal pin in the center between the two main prongs. This is a data/ground pin. The MPPT controller uses this pin to determine what is plugged in. If it detects the official solar cable configuration, it unlocks the full 13A charging limit. If you use a standard third-party XT60 cable without that special pin, the station plays it safe and assumes it’s a car charger, strictly limiting your input to 8A. Always ensure your solar extension cables are true XT60i to get your maximum wattage.

Technical Insight: Why your touch-sensitive lamps act weird during a blackout

When the grid is working and the unit is passing AC power through from the wall, the station uses your house's physical earth ground wire. But the moment the grid drops and the station switches to its internal battery, the AC inverter becomes an isolated, "floating neutral" system (which is perfectly safe and standard for portable power). Because there is no longer a physical connection to the earth, capacitive touch-sensitive lamps might suddenly stop responding to your finger, or audio equipment might develop a slight "hum." This is not a defect with your EcoFlow. It is just the physical reality of running devices on an isolated battery source. Once the grid returns, the grounding is restored and everything goes back to normal.

Delta Pro Smart Generator Adapter

I am using a Delta Pro Smart generator Adapter in order to use my Delta 2 Max extra battery if something goes wrong with my Delta 2 max. Its only a back up.I have tested this and it works, I covered the test in another post.My question is, does anyone know a reason why I can't just leave the adapter connected to the Delta Max 3 Plus when not in use? I doubt it's a shock hazard and I assume there will be no battery drain.I would rather leave it connected so it does not get misplaced if possible.
