When I bought my first Delta 3 and started using it, for about 4 months I was convinced that the fans didn’t work. I had not heard them at all, then one day I plugged in something that made my Delta 3 work a bit harder and sure enough, the fans do work, but wow they are quiet. I compared that near silent operation to a neighbours petrol generator which can easily be heard 200 yards away so can’t be used at night without annoying everyone. I’m very happy with our choice of backup power. Due to the fact that on some level we are hopefully the architects of our own happiness, I reserve the right to make myself even happier in the future, by expanding my setup at some point.

We are new to solar and don’t want a roof mounted array and don’t want a massive array that takes over the garden either, I would be happy with x2 - x4 200w or maybe up to x4 250w panels giving up to about 800w or 1000w plus whatever over production those panels manage, whilst making sure the volts stay inside the limit. I understand that over Watts and over Amps is generally ok.I know that I'm not going big with this, but...What are your thoughts about that small set up?

Originally, when we chose to have some backup power for the house, In the event of an outage, I deliberately chose to only back up enough to make life in an outage more comfortable and not too try to power the whole house.We chose Ecoflow battery storage instead of a petrol generator.Petrol generators should be serviced every year, you need to check the oil level regularly, you need to run the unit outside because of the exhaust fumes, then there’s the noise. Loud, is going to draw attention to itself. Even the silent or quiet ones, aren’t.You also need to run the unit regularly because modern fuel contains ethanol and that clogs up fuel lines. Then there’s run time, most generators that I’ve seen the owners manual for, state that the continuous run time is 8 hours or 10 hours. All of that is a bit of a faff.An Ecoflow battery will run until it’s empty, could be an hour could be 14 hours, it depends what you plug into it.I know a guy who has a petrol generator which he doesn’t run often enough and yes the fuel system has needed to be striped down and cleaned twice in 5 months. For me there’s also a potential problem, not being able to get more fuel when there’s major local disruption.That doesn’t mean that petrol generators are not worth having now. Probably the best backup power system would be a mixed approach. Ecoflow battery for silent running, some solar panels to top it up or maybe even recharge it completely and a small petrol generator, to recharge the Ecoflow when solar isn’t working. You would only have to run the petrol generator for an hour as Ecoflow recharges very quickly.

Recently, 1kWh (like the DELTA 3 Classic) and 2kWh (like the DELTA 3 2000 Air) class portable power stations have been heavily discounted. Even if you buy two units to get a total capacity of 3kWh to 4kWh, the total cost is less than half the price of a single ultra-large unit like the DELTA Pro 3.While a single large unit obviously has higher output limits for running multiple heavy appliances simultaneously, I personally see huge advantages in running a multi-unit setupBetter suited for Japanese-style/smaller homes: They are lighter, much easier to maneuver, and can be placed in different rooms.Risk Management (Redundancy): If one unit fails, the system doesn't completely collapse. You still have a working backup unit.Cost-Effectiveness: You get equivalent total capacity for a fraction of the cost.I'm planning to charge them using two 400W solar panels.What do you all think? Do you prefer a "Smart Single Large Unit" setup or a "Budget-Friendly Multi-Unit with Redundancy & Portability"? We are starting to use the Ecoflow when the grid is still up and running. We could just use the grid power and complain about the cost of each kW that we use. But having 2 Ecoflow Delta 3’s at our disposal gives us the ability to power things like the TV, WiFi, charge the phones and tablets, even power the fridge freezer and microwave etc. The Ecoflow can be charged with solar panels and that input is free power. We currently pay 26p per kW of grid electric, that is due to increase to about 29p in about 4 days. Not a big increase, but it won’t be an isolated increase. So if we can offset that increase by using the Ecoflow in the house more often and turning stuff like the TV off at night, because of its standby power usage, that has got to be a good thing. Using the Ecoflow more often is also probably good or at least better for its battery.

Our TV uses 28w and when is on standby it still uses about a third of that. Our Fridge Freezer uses 6w when it’s just monitoring itself and 151w when the condenser is running. A new fridge freezer would use about half that. Our lava lamp uses 40w but our ordinary standard lamp uses 8w (Led bulb) Our microwave is a 700w unit which actually pulls 1250w, that’s 700w of cooking power, the rest turns the plate and powers the light and the microwave gun. If we had a more powerful microwave, say a 1200w unit that would use about 1800w.Our panini press pulls 1000w. It makes toasted sandwiches but uses less power than a traditional toaster because its heat plates make contact with the bread, it runs for a shorter time, than a toaster would. Our Air Fryer pulls just under 2000w but only needs to be used for about 15 minutes at a time. Lightbulbs, a 60w bulb pulls 60w an hour, but an Led bulb with an equivalent light output only pulls about 9w I’ve started changing all of the light bulbs for Led versions.Making lots of small savings by using machines that use less power, for a shorter time adds up to savings on the utility bill.Knowing how much power items use means we can better plan how to use our two Ecoflows in an outage.

The thing that has surprised me the most about using our Ecoflow Delta 3’s is our usual power usage in the house. The Delta 3 has a set amount of capacity, so I use it differently, more considered than the grid.Before the Ecoflow, we just used stuff powered by the grid, as we normally use stuff, that means leaving the TV on standby when we go to bed, because that’s right, it doesn’t have an off switch like old TVs. Standby still uses power.Lightbulbs, an incandescent 60w pulls 60w an hour, but an Led bulb with an equivalent light output only pulls about 9w I’ve started changing all of the light bulbs for Led versions.Boiling water in the kettle, only boil what you are going to use at that moment, uses less power than boiling a full kettle for just one cup of tea or coffee.These differences are all small, but over a year they add up.These are all things that we already knew, but ignored. Ecoflow has reminded us of these simple steps to use power better and save a little on our utility bill.

Anyone got any suggestions how to make the connection more secure it you're using the 12v car cigarette lighter outlet port in the back of Delta 3? These connections are notorious for wobbling use, wondered if the Ecoflow port is nice and snug?

I really love having our 2 Ecoflow Delta 3’s We haven’t had an outage since buying them so we haven’t used them in anger, but we have simulated an outrage and tested what we would want to power on then. Just knowing that the Delta 3’s are there and having carried out tests so that now we know how long they will keep us going, is fantastic.

Our house is 160 years old so you can imagine I’m not interested in adding a heavy solar panel array to the roof, it was never designed to take that weight.Plug in Solar is fantastic I’ve seen it in Europe, it’s popular and it works. Personally, I’m not much interested in a grid tied battery system, at least yet. That might change one day.Having a setup made up of separate stands alone units like Delta 3 floats my boat. That is the route I’m going down, modular, movable, non grid tied, expandable and for my requirements, massively flexible. All of that might change one day as I am keeping a close watch on the Ecoflow stream series. But at the moment, I’m happy with our small setup, I can always add to it. Yes, I’m probably just playing at it all really, but wow I’m enjoying the game.

I recently bought a Delta 3 on Amazon. For some reason when I plug in the solar (4 100w panels, series/parallel, 48v, 7.5amp peak) all I ever get when plugged into the Delta is 150w. I've tested the solar several times, 350w peak. What am I missing?Here's what EcoFlow said. Pretty funny... Was reading the delta 3 max manual and it lists the solar xt60i input max. There is of course a max voltage that can not be exceeded and would definitely damage the unit……. But a max amps was also listed with a warning not to exceed. I had believed that exceeding max amps would just be wasted power, but not something that could cause damage?

I originally bought the Delta 2 Max with the plan to eventually get an additional battery. However I decided instead to get a Delta 3 Max. Either way would result in the same total watt hours…. But there were several reasons for additional unit instead of additional battery: -now I have additional redundancy should a unit break -I could solar charge one unit while other powers the appliances, and swap -can place each unit in different parts of the house to avoid extension cords
