My power bill is gone!
A little over a year ago I was able to purchase my first house, and I decided to take the plunge and set up a delta pro ultra system and smart home panel 2.
In my area, power outage aren’t incredibly frequent, but they do happen 3-4 times a year where the grid is usually down for multiple hours at a time. We get some gnarly wind storms where I am that like to take down power lines.
As someone who has a lot of sensitive electronics, having a grid outage isn’t ideal. Luckily I don’t use a ton of power, but as a redundancy/load spreading measure I ended up going with three of the ultra systems so that way I could have my central AC on top of everything else running seamlessly.
Ever since I bought my house, I wanted a wraparound porch behind the back so that I could have shade throughout the day, and after pricing out the cost of materials to put a roof on it, it ended up being cheaper to build a pergola and buy a bulk pallet of Solar Panels and use those as the roofing panels instead. I ended up putting a 14.5kW array of panels on top of the pergola that I built around the back of my house. I have 60 kWh worth of batteries on the ultra’s and they are fully charged by about 1PM, even on cloudy days they still manage to be fully charged by the time the sun starts to go down.
We recently had the first power outage since installing the system, and it was pretty comical seeing my house was the only one lit up in the neighborhood.
The system has been running self-sufficient off of solar for about the last 2 months since I finished the install, and only seems to be getting better as the heat climbs!
After my first year of owning this house, my power bills were consistently north of $250 in the summer since I like my A/C cold. The system so far has dropped my power bill down to the minimum $15 access charge.
Of course, EcoFlow released the ultra X system and smart home panel 3 right after I finished my install. Maybe there will be an upgrade in my future. 😂
