Our EcoFlow Off-Grid Adventure: From $600 Bills to Total Freedom! 🌞
Hi everyone! We’re Erika and Erica, 😆 two eclectic women in our late 50s who discovered we share love for music , country life and living in our cozy 880-square-foot two-story home in North Central Massachusetts. Our backyard opens right onto the state park with its amazing trails, rivers, and lake — and now our whole house runs on sunshine and EcoFlow magic!
Three years ago we got fed up with those insane $600 monthly electric bills. We dreamed of real independence, so we started with individual EcoFlow systems and kept growing. Today we have 27+ EcoFlow systems divided into five groups, each with their own dedicated solar input. These separate micro-systems (spread across our five rooms plus the basement) give us incredible redundancy and flexibility. We have 37 kWh of battery storage total and a 4 kW homemade solar array we built ourselves. We’re still buzzing with excitement every single day!
The results? Our electric bill dropped to about $30 a month! We went from grid slaves to completely independent. No more worrying about rate hikes or outages — just clean, reliable power we made ourselves. We’re even thinking of consolidating more into the basement for ultimate efficiency, but honestly it all works beautifully right now.
We hunted every great deal we could find and invested just under $10,000 total. Best money we’ve ever spent! Mornings now start with solar-powered coffee, and evenings feel peaceful knowing we’re truly off-grid.
We’re so thrilled we’ve been sharing our story with neighbors — and many are super receptive! We’re happy to help them get started on their own journeys toward energy freedom.
