Maximizing my Net Metered Solar System.

I had a grid-tied, net-metered, roof mounted solar system installed November 2022. The last electric bill I actually had to pay was February 2023.My EF stations have been obtained for power failure backup since I did not get a battery back-up with my solar system. It would have cost more than the system itself becuase of regulations - plus batteries have come way down in cost since then. But, since I have the equipment, I might as well use it for other things.Even though I don't "need" to, spring thru fall I use my EF station, charged with stand-alone solar panels, to reduce what I use from my roof top system (or have to pull from the grid when the sun is absent). The list of items I run purely off of my power stations is not all-inclusive, but carries the larger items:Refrigerator (just started battery use a couple of weeks ago since I added a couple of larger stations)Desktop computer/modem/routerCooking appliances: Microwave, multi-cooker and George Foreman grillCoffee makerPortable DishwasherWashing machineWindow fansDevices - phone, Kindle, laptop (seperate from desktop)Ryobi batteries (charged from EF stations): 40v mower and leaf blower; 18v power tools, lawn equipment, vaccum; and 3-4v misc tools. My pellet stoves (yes, still running - although only light use), lights, TV/cable, on-demand hot water (propane but with elelctric ignition) are still on house power. Yesterday I only pulled 1.3 kwh from the grid and 1.9 kwh from my grid-tied solar for a total of 3.2 kwh from my home system.I enjoy the challenge of keeping my grid and roof solar usage low, while making use of my "emergency" backup equipment to provide for as much of my electrical needs as possible.

400w Folding Solar Panel Review

I ordered the Delta 3 Max with the 400w folding panel a couple of weeks ago. The panel got here right away. But I live in the upper Northeast, so batteries take forever to get here from Cali. Since the the weather forecasters were saying that we would have no sun for a week or more, I decided to test the 400w panel on my existing D2M instead of waiting for the D3M to get here. The 400w panel produced 345w (86%). Compared to the 320w panels output of 196 (61%), the production of the foldable panel was impressive - especially considering the low sun angle at this time of year. (for those confused by the picture, the rigid panel plugged into the other input of the D2M was the one on the right) I will admit that using the stand that also doubles as a carry case is cumbersome - plus I'm a spaz, so that was why I ended up just leaning it against another rigid panel instead. The foldable panel weighs a lot, nearly as much as the Delta 3 Max does. But the case has a shoulder strap as well as carry handle, which is very helpful when moving it around. AND, the weight of the panel actually kept it stable and upright even though we had a stiff wind the day I tested it.

Benefits with ECOFLOW solar batteries

After having my first Ecoflow DELTA 2 battery, my electric bill has reduced. Your properly thinking how? Once I learned the pick-hours on wattage used. I used the Ecoflow DELTA 2 battery. This year (summer 2026) projected to hotter than last year. My new Ecoflow DELTA Pro, I expect to lower my electrical consumption even more. Also, lowering my electric bill. As a retired disabled veteran, the Ecoflow DELTA Pro series is affordable, and suitable when a power outages happens. And setup correctly, it can be great for home off grid power too. My goal, to one day show people how this is one of the ideal solution as electric bill continue climbing. One of the things I love about the Ecoflow DELTA Pro series, you can set them up in any room inside your home. I have already started designing a nice professional shelf area for them, once I'm finished with all my testing. And now for my famous words "Now You Know - Nothing Like Ecoflow"

Delta Pro is the way to go! 30% Federal Tax Credit experience, Transfer switch, Smart Generator.

in Fall 2025, I bought 2 Delta Pro, 1 extra Delta Pro battery, the Delta Pro 3200W DC dual fuel smart generator, 3 400W portable solar, 2 220W portable solar and a Reliance Controls Pro/Tran2 6-Circuit Manual Transfer Switch model 206A from Amazon on a Prime day sale. When I filed my Federal Taxes for 2025, I applied for the 30% federal tax credit. I just got my refund. I received the full refund amount without having to provide receipts. Between the Prime discounts, associated bonus items, free shipping, and the Federal tax refund the total system net cost installed, was well under $5,000.Compared to the $13K Generac system I was looking at, I am really glad I went with the Delta Pro system. It was easy to install by myself. The system gives me over 12 hours backup on essential circuits (I don't have a well pump) before I need a recharge. In 30 years in this location (northern U.S.) we have had outages of more than 12 hours only a couple times. I do have to manually switch the essential circuits (which I actually prefer) but after that, the system and solar/generator recharging occur automatically and I can monitor and control the system via the EcoFlow app which is very good.I also love the quiet and portability that I get with this system as opposed to a hard wired Generac. I can take parts of the system elsewhere for camping (it easily provides all the power to run my entire camper with AC, long term), off grid construction projects, or helping out friends and other emergencies.I'm very pleased I made this choice. I believe that the Federal renewable energy tax credits will continue to be available. I plan to add some additional wind power generation in the future using those credits.
