Is large scale solar worth it?

From purely a financial point, is large scale solar worth it? Aside from current and predicting future grid power prices, one's age, health, plans of moving or not, ability to maintain a system, the chance of a system getting damaged or destroyed from natural disaster, ability to insure a roof or structure with solar, local, state, community laws all need to be factored in before making such a large investment. On its face, solar makes a lot of sense as a hedge against inflation or if no electrical service is available in an area. I also love the idea of being self-sufficient, but large scale solar is not for everyone for the reasons I mentioned, and perhaps others.

More on Surge suppressors

For those doing any grid tied or just generally information on surge suppression and interfacing power stations and modern small appliances, surge suppression is either overlooked, under spent, or misunderstood. Most surges are "coming from inside the house" as each time a motor starts up a small surge occurs. Motors can be an Air Conditioning compressor, a refrigerator, a table saw, etc. Surges don't destroy sensitive equipment immediately, but over time. Its death by 1000 cuts.It is recommended to have a quality surge suppressor on the main panel AND individual surge suppressors on sensitive equipment. Sensitive equipment today is almost everything as everything has a microprocessor built into it.

Soft Start Install

Consider installing a soft start for your central air unit to reduce the surge amps so your EF devices and smaller ICE generators can power it up during an outage. It’s an awesome investment!

How Has EcoFlow Changed Your Routine?

EcoFlow products already offer so many great features, but if you could add one more, what would it be?I’d personally love to see even more smart app customization. What would you add?

What are Eco Credits Monthly Madness?

I am confused. I received an email on 7/23/26, at 12:04PM stating "Deals from $1" I clicked on the link and the deals were gone. Is this a different program from the now 8PM Pacific, 11PM Thursday night Eco Credits rewards program? So is it monthly deals, weekly or both?

EF items used for the ground mount construction project

This is the gear I’ve got stashed in the construction trailer. I’m sure more EF gear will make its way to the site as time progresses. I have six solar panels temporarily on the ground at this time (2s2p into DPU LV, 1s2p into GLACIER, and WAVEs are fed with AC power from the DPu. I will probably add more if needed as I have twenty five used 240w panels in addition to the new panels going onto the solar array.

Surviving the aftermath

Some of the damage from late April tornado in saline county gilliam missouri. My ecoflow river 3 plus and renogy 200watt 24v 16bb solar panel and a bunch of diy lights and battery banks is all I'm surviving on still. I'm praying to upgrade in any way, shape or form to increase my energy source. I trust God is on top of it for me. It's kept me out of darkness and cool in summer heat and charging everything I have built to power everything.

Ways to use the Free Sun

Well went out on boat yesterday and decided to use the Solar Hat to keep cell phone topped off. Why #StayPrepared #StayPowered #StayTogether matters:⚡ 1. Refrigeration: Keep food and medications safe during outages.🌡️ 2. Heating & Cooling: Protect your family from extreme heat or freezing temperatures.📱 3. Communication: Keep phones, portable radios, CBs, and two-way radios powered to stay informed and connected.💡 4. Lighting: Reliable lights provide safety, security, and peace of mind when the grid goes down.🔋 5. Backup the Backup: Have more than one power source. Portable power stations, batteries, and generators can recharge your primary system.☀️ 6. Renewable Energy: Use every resource available—solar, wind, or water—to keep your essential devices running.Being prepared isn't about fear—it's about protecting your family and having the confidence to face whatever comes next.#StayPrepared #StayPowered #StayTogether

LEGALIZE IT EVERYWHERE!

This heat wave over the last week has been very taxing on the grid and my wallet. EF HAS THE ANSWER! Need all states to legalize plug and play solar. Help raise awareness and spread the facts. These systems are safe and help the CONSUMER and not Big Energy. Thank you and be blessed.

400w Travel Panel permanent mount

I noticed a few posts about having problems with the case/stand for these panels. I mounted mine with brackets and added 1x4s to keep everything tight.

Suggestion and a maintenance question

I purchased a EcoFlow 3 Ultra about 6 months ago. Everything works great. The only wish I have is there is a way to expand the battery bank to enhance the storage capacity. I understand the product is not intended to be expanded. However, this information was not identifying during my search through most of the AI tools. I wish there is a way to change it. Other than that this device has been working fine, and has able to provide power to my refrigerator for over 10 hours and with spare. With the recent power outage we have experienced, this unit has become our lifesaver during two occurrences. It has been a great investment. I also made it a point to recycle the stored battery backup every two months. Now the question is, is it necessary? Or should I continue to do that every two months?
