My bedroom set up with Delta 3+

I would like to share with you how my Delta 3+ continuously receives energy from the sun. I have 3 x 100W solar panels running into the house with the Super Flat Solar Cable Connector (price went up $10 from 2 months ago). I cover the cable, and I put my battery in my bedroom closet. This is a very neat set up.

What should I get?

I’m in a bit of a pickle and need your expert advice. I bought a Delta Pro 3 because I live alone and thought that was all I needed. My bill was super low, around $30 to $40 a month, and I was thrilled with it. But then my grandson moved in, and guess what? My bill didn’t even budge! Here’s the kicker: my daughter is moving back home next year with two of my granddaughters, and they’re going to eat up electricity like there’s no tomorrow! So, I’m torn between buying a second Delta Pro 3 or an Ultra. If I get the Ultra, I can still use DP3 because I can use it in the added room where my daughter will live. She can use the extra energy because the room is huge, and there aren’t many plugs. It’s like a bedroom / living room, so the DP3 will still have a BIG purpose.I’m looking to get it soon so I can get the tax credit before the end of the year, so I want to make the best decision possible. What do you guys think I should do? I’m all ears!!2nd Pro 3Ultra

Do I have a Delta Problem?

At the time of my first Ecoflow purchaseI had a smaller "B" unit that I found useful and was looking for the next size up (around 2k storage). after agonizing over the specs, and really wanting to like the "B" unit, I decided on the D2M (Delta 2 Max). This had everything to do with a couple of important things:1) Weight, where the D2M was about 10 pounds lighter. Since I would be carrying it out into the yard for charging, that was important to me.2) Two PV inputs for a total of 1,000w capability. My first D2M has been a workhorse, powering anything I throw at it. It's main duty is to run my kitchen, but it does more when needed (back up a pellet stove when needed). then I got a Delta Pro (DP) for backing up the big pellet stove, then I got a Delta 3 plus (D3+).And then, since 1 is none and two is one, I started getting backups to my backups, (pic 1 is D2Ms, Pic 2 is DPs, pic 3 is D3+). Note that one of those D3+ stations was a freebie that I won in an EF contest, so I am not as bad at collecting as it seems - LOL.Now, I'm just waiting for EF to come to their senses and put out a D3M, then my collection would be complete 🤣

Mystery

Less than two years ago, I stumbled upon EcoFlow D2M, and surprisingly, my battery collection has been expanding ever since.

D2M Stopped Solar Charging Prematurely

I had a weird thing happen with my Delta 2 Max (first) on Sunday. I took it outside for solar charging (as usual), hooked it up and all was going along fine. It had started around 35% and after a couple of hours was up to 74%. Then, next time I looked on the app, it was still at 74%, and showed no input from the solar panels.I did the following, with no results:1) Unplugged, and replugged the wiring to the pigtails and checked the connections to the panels2) Removed the pigtails and plugged the panels in directly.3) Brought a D3+ over and checked the panels. This affirmed that there were no issues with the panels or cable extensions - the D3+ showed charging as expected.4) Turned the D2M off, and plugged the panels directly in. This woke the station up, and it showed charging for about 2 seconds, then the charge stopped.5) Checked my settings to make sure the upper limit didn't somehow get changed, it showed 100%6) Checked the FW version, which was up to date7) Checked the battery temp (it was a little over 90* air temp), the battery showed 90* which is well within specs. No faults were showing and I got tired of messing with it, so I brought it inside and let it sit. Yesterday morning I used the station to make my coffee, breakfast and run the dishwasher. Later, I took it outside for solar charging, and it started charging fine. It eventually charged to 100% (happy dance). I'm not sure what the issue was, but letting it sit overnight seemed to solve it. Maybe it was really full on Sunday, but the BMS was confused. IDK, never had anything like that happen before.

Building Generations with EcoFlow

My Grandson has his very own Delta 2 w/ EB, in his room. It runs a lamp, his 2 TVs, and his game. 🤦🏽‍♀️. As you can see, he knows how to plug up the portable solar panels to keep his unit charged, and the second set of solar panels goes to my room that charges my D3+ / EB.🍄When I first set EF up in his room and told him this is a big battery and it’s going to run your energy. He thought I was crazy, but I knew I had an EcoFlow Man in the making because he also learned my other units. He’s still learning what he can use with the different units I have, but I’m so proud of him. He has the app as well.🍄In between his college classes and football, we’re going to build a stand to hold 4 x 240W solar panels to set on this side of the house because my Grandson used a lot of energy.🤔

5.0.0.84 firmware of DPU unlocks solar operation when battery is full!

Confirmed: remarkable new feature added in firmware 5.0.0.84 for DPU, solar self consumption!Previously, when DPU is full from solar, the entire array shuts off, DPU drains to 98%, then the array restart. Now, when DPU is full from solar, the solar array will be throttled but provides for the house while DPU idles. See the picture here below. The input and output doesn’t quite match due to moment to moment variations but the overall effect is the same. It’s not a good idea to let your battery go to 100% all the time so I just found this just now. This firmware is not widely available yet and I was told if you don’t have power pulse, it’s not recommended. While I had few problem with my firmware, others did. On the other hand, this is a material improvement of your product and kudos to Ecoflow to unlock inverter operation when battery is full!

End of life for DELTA Max and RIVER Pro?

It looks like the NMC chemistry power stations like DELTA Max 1600/2000 and RIVER Pro have disappeared from the EF website, but the DELTA 1300 still exists. I was late to the game and only have LFP RIVERs and DELTAs, but this seems to be the beginning of the end for EF NMC products. Out with the old, in with the new.

OG Delta Pro still very relevant

I still feel like the OG Delta pro was so far ahead of its time with early adoption of lfp in a large portable power unit that it’s still very relevant today and going strong in many homes and vendors. This was from an electric car show and there were quite a few EF units powering various vendors. This is just one of them and it reminded me of its dominance in the market.

PSA: watch your smart home panel 2 installers

Hey guysI think a lot of the SHP2 panel issues stem from installation issues. My install is one of the oldest in the US as I am a beta tester and I have had ZERO issue with my SHP2 in over two years.i want to bring some pointers here. Read the manual! Also, it’s not obvious, but the circled area in my picture is GROUND bus, not neutral. I seen installs where neutral are landed there and cause accidental ground - neutral bond which is a NO go.

FYI: Power pulse is crazy overengineered for EV charging

Here’s some thermal camera picture of Powerpulse charging my Rivian during a hot summer day after hours and hours.with SHP2, your maximum charge rate is 7.2 kw which is a nice and respectable level 2 charge rate typical from public chargers. However, the PP itself can do 9.6kw and the 8 awg 105c wire should be good to go to 55 amp and above according to a search (thats more than 13kw).With EV charging, you want overenginered products, and you can see PP fit that description right here.

Solar charging my Delta 3 Plus with 100W panels

To be honest, there wasn't any real need to solar charge my Delta with these panels today - it would only cost about 10 cents to top it up (it wasn't empty) from a wall outlet, and on a bright, cool, sunny morning, my 44 roof-top panels are putting out more power than we're using anyway. But why not.I have a pair of rigid 100W EcoFlow panels that I've mounted in plastic tubing frames - the frames give me lots of options, including hanging the panels off of a railing (their normal location). I set them up on the lawn, connected in series, and ran the cable to my D3+ (moved to the shade after this picture). Everything was easy to set up and these imperfectly aligned panels were quickly sending over 130W to the D3+. The D3+ will be topped up in under an hour (it only needs about 100W to be full).Good to confirms it all works. Some day, we'll lose power when there is sun and I'll be happy to be able to recharge my batteries from these panels - and the many folding ones I have stored in my basement.

Delta 2 Max (D2M), The Most Versatile Station

I have several different Delta stations, from the smaller delta 3 Plus (D3+) all the way up to the Delta Pro (DP). Here is why the D2M is my favorite. The most important thing is that it can run nearly anything I throw at it. Spring to Fall I use the D2M to run every kitchen appliance I have (except the fridge - for personal reasons). My over the range 1000w microwave is power hungry and uses 1,500-1,600w continuously while it is running. Each minute of run time uses approximately 1.5% of the D2M's capacity. I also use it for my George Foreman grill (about 1,000w), Drip coffee maker, slow cooker, toaster oven. portable dishwasher etc. During the winter, the D2M is attached to one of my pellet stoves as a backup in case of power outage.Pictures are of the D2M under the microwave, then moved to another counter and using with my dishwasher, then of what the dishwasher is pulling for power (666w 😄)The capacity of the D2M means I can run my kitchen for a couple of days before I am at the point I need to recharge by solar. And, the D2M is moderately portable at 50# (keep in mind, I move 40# bags of wood pellets for heating my house so YMMV for portability). Honestly, the 50# weight is why I bought the EF D2M instead of a competitor's offering - as the competitor's station was about 60 pounds at the time. Since I carry my stations to my solar panels for charging, about 80' away from my back door (and down some stairs), that weight is very important for a mid-sixty year old woman. The cherry on top is the two 500w PV inputs, for a total of the ability to be solar charged at 1000w.

Big Mama, Delta Pro 3

One of the best purchases I ever made. I call her Big Mama because growing up, Big Mama was strong. She could handle the hard work, she never backed down from a challenge, and she kept the energy going in the family, and that’s what I have. I’m ECOFLOW for life.

Do I need it? DPU vs. DP3

I currently have a DP3 with EB. It currently powers my backup freezer and powered cooler, when necessary. On the weekends if power is my washer and dryer, and is fed by some accessory solar panels on my property. We have rooftop solar and make a lot more power than we need. Our bills are currently negative. We do plan to get a EV and put in a charger so there's that. My primary use for the system is to backup power when they're outages or emergencies. Offloading some appliances would be a plus, but I figured the ROI isn't that great. With that said I do want your back up other things such as security lights, some appliances like my regular fridge, and some plugs around the house. Since I'm not planning to power high voltage devices like my AC or charge the EV be the EcoFlow setup, would upgrading to the DPU be worth it?
