One feature that doesn’t get talked about much is fast AC charging. Most of the time I don’t need to recharge as quickly as possible, but I can definitely see situations where it would be a huge advantage.Do you regularly take advantage of fast charging? One of my favorite things about the EcoFlow app is the control it gives me. With Energy Management, I can keep my battery around 80% for normal use and battery health, then quickly increase it to 100% when a storm is approaching. I also like being able to adjust the discharge level around 30% for normal use and maintenance cycles, or 0% during an outage when I need the most capacity.The AC Charging Speed setting is another favorite. It’s good to know I can step up and support them when needed.I haven’t done this yet, but my portable EcoFlow power stations are compact enough to take over and let them borrow. When the grid is active, the AC power from your wall flows directly through the station and out to your connected devices. It completely bypasses the internal battery chemistry. The internal cells simply sit perfectly idle at your set maximum charge limit. A "cycle" only counts when the battery is actually physically discharged and recharged. So, you can confidently leave your station plugged in under your desk all year round knowing that you are not artificially burning through your 3000+ lifecycles while waiting for the next blackout.

A quick maintenance reminder for anyone planning to travel or store their backup power station for a long period of time. It can be tempting to just leave the unit plugged into the wall at 100% while you are away, or worse, toss it in a closet completely dead at 0%. Both of these extremes put unnecessary chemical stress on the LiFePO4 cells. If you know you won't use the unit for several weeks or months, the best practice is to manually discharge the battery to 60%-50%, turn off all the ports, completely power down the unit, and store it in a cool room. This perfectly balances the internal voltage and ensures zero degradation while you are away. Protect your investment.

We all know the internal fans do a great job of pulling air through the side vents when the unit is fast-charging or running a heavy load. However, the bottom plastic casing can still absorb and radiate a lot of heat. Instead of leaving my unit sitting directly on a solid wooden floor or a flat desk (which traps the heat underneath), I placed it on a small, sturdy wire mesh rack. Allowing ambient air to flow continuously underneath the flat bottom of the unit drastically improves passive heat dissipation. The cooler the outer casing stays, the less the internal fans have to ramp up to their loud maximum speeds!

Under today’s sunny conditions, it peaked at 77 watts charging the River 2.One thing I like about this panel is how lightweight and easy it is to move around. The battery percentage shoots up incredibly fast, but when it hits 99%, it suddenly seems to "hang" there for an unusually long time before finally clicking over to 100%. You'll even see the incoming AC wattage drop significantly on the app during this phase. Don't worry, this isn't a display glitch, this is the internal BMS performing "top-balancing" on the LiFePO4 cells. It intentionally throttles the charging speed at the very end to carefully equalize the voltage across all individual internal cells. If you ever see it stuck at 99%, don't unplug it thinking it's "close enough." Let it finish that final 1% to keep your battery health perfectly balanced over the long term.

When the grid goes down at night, the first instinct for many people is to plug a standard AC desk lamp into the inverter. But as we know, the AC inverter wastes battery on baseline phantom draw just by being turned on. A fantastic lifehack to save your battery capacity is to utilize the 12V DC "cigarette lighter" port on the front of the unit. You can buy cheap 12V LED camping strips or bulbs that plug directly into this port. The DC-to-DC conversion is ridiculously efficient, and the cooling fans won't even turn on. You can light up an entire room for days on a single charge while leaving the AC inverter completely powered off.
